About Salmon Defense
Salmon Defense is a non-profit corporation established in 2003 to advocate for the region’s salmon. Our goal is to engage public awareness and implement actions through education and legal campaigns to turn the tide on salmon habitat degradation. Salmon Defense was granted 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in August 2004. The five founding Board members represent treaty Indian tribes in western Washington. Since its inception, Salmon Defense has benefitted from the support of the tribally chartered Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission [NWIFC].
